James Milligan from the DMA will join us to talk about the future of data protection, your director obligations in relation to data protection and how future changes could impact your business. EU changes are being discussed now. Take a read of why this stuff if really important.

A little bit of background about your speakers
James Milligan, DMA Solicitor
James Milligan advises DMA members on data protection, e-commerce and financial services legislative issues. He has been following the European Commission’s revision of the 1995 European Data Protection Directive since the process began in 2009. James is also involved in lobbying the UK Government, the European Commission and other industry regulators on these issues.
He is a qualified solicitor and has passed the ISEB certificate in data protection. Prior to joining the DMA in 2002, he spent five years working in both private practice and in-house, including gaining practical experience in data protection and financial services whilst working for the European subsidiary of a US third party credit card processor.
Saul Gowens, Websand, CEO / founder
Saul Gowens has over 15 years’ experience in loyalty marketing. Working with blue chip clients all over the world to help them understand the customer data they hold to build loyalty with their key customers.
Saul founded Websand, a marketing automation platform that makes email marketing more efficient and effective through a focus on customer data and segmentation, a process we call ‘Clever Communication’
Websand is a graduate business of the Newcastle based start-up accelerator Ignite100 and is going from strength to strength, helping local clients such as Fluid Group, Lakes Distillery and Nirvana Europe to make email marketing more effective through Clever Communication.
